One-day Hands-on workshop Training in the title “High -Precision Land Survey using DGPS” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering jointly with Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) on 10.04.2026. Ms.S.Aarthikumari, Second year student welcomed the gathering. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College delivered his presidential address on this event, he addresses the opportunities available for civil Engineers in the world wide.
Ms.R.Priyadharshini, Third year student introduced the speaker. Dr.J.Sankar ME.,(Stru).,Ph.D.,L.L.B., Registered Engineer & Approved Valuer, Proprietor, Surrya Builders, Salem was the resource speaker. He briefed about the applications and advantages of DGPS instruments along with the preliminary adjustments. Also, his team members elaborated how to take readings in the DGPS instrument. They also elaborated the Do’s and Dont’s in the surveying instruments.
In the afternoon, the students were taken to the ground for hands-on training with DGPS. They were involved in the calibration and initial setup of the DGPS instrument and carried out measurements. By the end of the workshop, the students had gained practical knowledge in handling digital surveying instruments in the field.
Faculty members and students have actively participated in the one day technical workshop and queries from the students were effectively answered by the chief guest and his team members. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. E.Srijaa Second year student and the session was very interactive and knowledgeable.
Dr.K.Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil Convenor for this One Day Technical workshop, Mr.N.Moorthi, AP/Civil, Mrs.B.Kiruthika, AP/Civil and Mrs.S.Sowdeshwari, AP/Civil Faculty coordinators along with faculty members and students from Civil Engineering department around 85 participants were present in the workshop.
