Hands-on Training on “Artificial Intelligence using Machine Learning for Modern Engineering”

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at Paavai Engineering College, in association with The Institutions of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) and Indian Info Tech, organized a Hands-on Training “Artificial Intelligence using Machine Learning for Modern Engineering” on 07.04.2026 at Bright Hall and Networks Lab (M307) from 10:30 AM to 04:30 PM.. The hands on training provided a blend of theoretical insights and hands-on laboratory sessions held at the Networks Lab (M307).

The event began with a Prayer Song by the students, followed by the presentation of the Vision,Mission,PEO of the department by Ms.Sasipoorani M of III-year ECE. The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. Madhuvarshini G of III-year ECE. Dr. K.Selvi, Director – Academic, Paavai Educational Institutions, delivered the Presidential Address, wherein he appreciated the initiative taken by the department and encouraged students to actively engage in such knowledge-enriching sessions. The Chief guest introduction was given by Mr. Maadhavan G S of II year ECE, who expressed admiration for the speaker’s achievements and career journey.

The keynote address by Mr. Dr. Moupali Roy, Project Associate – MATLAB from ARK Info solutions Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. ARK Info solutions is a leading value-added distributor for technology products in India, specializing in segments such as Simulation, Manufacturing, and Education.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered by Machine Learning (ML) has become a transformative force in modern engineering, enabling systems to learn from data, make intelligent decisions, and optimize performance without explicit programming. Engineers across disciplines increasingly rely on AI-driven solutions to solve complex, real-world problems efficiently.

Machine Learning, a subset of AI, involves algorithms that can identify patterns in data and improve their performance over time. In engineering applications, ML techniques such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning are widely used for prediction, classification, optimization, and control. These methods are applied in areas like signal processing, robotics, power systems, biomedical engineering, and communication systems.

MATLAB provides a powerful and user-friendly environment for implementing AI and ML algorithms in engineering. With toolboxes such as the Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox, Deep Learning Toolbox, and Reinforcement Learning Toolbox, MATLAB enables engineers to design, train, test, and deploy models efficiently. Its interactive environment and visualization capabilities allow users to analyze data, tune models, and interpret results effectively.

The event was highly interactive, allowing students to understand the practical applications of their curriculum. This event aligns with SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 9. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dharanya R II year ECE, acknowledging the resource person’s contribution to enhancing the students’ technical perspective of MATLAB.

The event was convened by Dr.R.Mohanapriya, Associate Professor and Head, ECE, and coordinated by Dr.S.Vijayakumar, Professor, and Mr.S.Satheeshkumar, and A.Sujitha Co Coordinator of this function. 10 faculty members from various departments like Agriculture, AIDS, ECE and 25 students from the civil and ECE department actively participated in the session.
