The Department of Information Technology organized an Alumni Guest Lecture on “Are You Industry-Ready? Trends & Grooming that Matters” 4th April 2026 at Cute Hall. The session was delivered by Ms. Mahalaksmi Angusamy, Tech Lead at Tech Mahindra, who belongs to the 2010-2014 of the department.
The objective of the session:
- To create awareness about current industry trends and expectations across various domains.
- To bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.
- To equip learners with essential employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- To guide students in identifying and “grabbing” relevant career opportunities and skill sets.
- To develop confidence in students for interviews, group discussions, and professional interactions.
The presidential address was delivered by Dr. K. Selvi, Dean (Academics), who encouraged students to actively participate in various activities and adopt innovative approaches to achieve their goals.
Mr. D. Subham Kumar Singh, a second-year IT student, welcomed the gathering. Ms. Keerthana Bharathi S., a second-year IT student, introduced the Chief Guest, and Ms. G. Harini, a third-year IT student, served as the Master of Ceremonies for the day.
The guest speaker, Ms. Mahalaksmi Angusamy, Tech Lead at Tech Mahindra, Chennai, effectively highlighted real-world applications, career opportunities, and the skills required to enter various domains. The inclusion of “Get Into” steps and relevant certifications provided clear guidance for students to begin their career paths. The session also focused on interview preparation, self-grooming, and common mistakes, adding practical value beyond technical knowledge. The content was well-structured, engaging, and aligned with current industry needs. Overall, the presentation helped students understand industry expectations and motivated them to enhance their skills and become job-ready.
A total of 100 participants attended the event, including 100 students and 3 faculty members.
Outcome of the Event:
- Students will be able to identify current industry trends and align their skills accordingly.
- Learners will demonstrate improved professional grooming, etiquette, and communication skills.
- Learners will become more self-aware and career-focused, taking initiative in skill development.
- Students will be better prepared to secure internships and job opportunities.
- The session on “Are You Industry-Ready? Trends & Grooming that Matters” enhanced students’ awareness of current industry trends, professional grooming, and employability skills, contributing to PO1, PO5, PO6, PO7, PO8, PO9 & PO11 attainment.
