Paavai College of Pharmacy and Research maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form. The institution is committed to providing a safe, secure, and friendly learning environment for all students.
The Anti-Ragging Committee has been constituted in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and the Government regulations to prevent and prohibit ragging inside and outside the campus.

Objectives of the Anti-Ragging Committee
- To create awareness among students regarding the harmful effects and legal consequences of ragging.
- To ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students, especially freshers.
- To prevent any act of ragging within the college campus, hostels, transportation, and surrounding areas.
- To encourage students to report incidents of ragging without fear.
- To take immediate and appropriate disciplinary action against those involved in ragging.
What Constitutes Ragging
Ragging includes any act that causes, or is likely to cause, physical, psychological, or emotional harm to a student. It may include:
- Teasing, bullying, or intimidating junior students
- Verbal abuse or use of offensive language
- Physical assault or harassment
- Forcing students to perform acts against their will
- Humiliation, embarrassment, or mental harassment
- Online or cyber ragging through social media or messaging platforms
Ragging in any form is a punishable offence and is strictly prohibited.

Anti-Ragging Squad
An Anti-Ragging Squad functions under the Anti-Ragging Committee and conducts regular monitoring in classrooms, laboratories, hostels, canteen, buses, and other common areas.
Responsibilities of the Squad
- Conduct surprise inspections in vulnerable areas
- Monitor student activities regularly
- Interact with freshers and ensure their safety
- Receive complaints and report them to the committee immediately
- Maintain discipline and prevent incidents of ragging
Punishment for Ragging
Students found guilty of ragging are liable for one or more of the following punishments
- Warning or written apology
- Suspension from classes
- Debarment from examinations
- Withholding of scholarships or other benefits
- Suspension or expulsion from hostel
- Dismissal from the institution
- Filing of police complaint and legal action
The severity of punishment will depend upon the nature and seriousness of the offence.
