Sustainable Construction Lecture

A one-day Guest Lecture on the title “Sustainable Construction through Industrial By-Product Utilization” was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with Paavai Civil Engineering Association, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous) on 23.02.2026. Ms.S.Aarthi kumari, Second year student welcomed the gathering & Ms.R.Priyadharshini, Third year student gave the Chief Guest introduction.

Dr.K.Selvi, Dean – Academics,  Paavai Engineering College delivered her presidential address on this event, she highlighting the importance of utilizing industrial by-products for a greener future.

Dr. K. Sharmiladevi, Head of the Department introduced the speaker and gave an overview on Sustainable Construction, emphasizing the innovative use of industrial by-products in modern engineering.

Dr.T.Murugesan,  Associate Professor & Head,  Department of Civil Engineering, Government College of Engineering, Sengipatti, Thanjavur, was the resource speaker. He delivered an insightful session on sustainable construction practices through the effective utilization of industrial by-products in modern infrastructure. He explained the experimental investigations on strength, durability, and performance characteristics, emphasizing optimum replacement levels of Sugarcane bagasse ash and marble powder for enhanced results. He also highlighted the environmental benefits, including reduced carbon emissions and efficient waste management. By the end of the session, students gained a clear understanding of sustainable construction techniques and their practical applications in the industry.

Dr.K.Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil, Mrs.S.Rajeswari, AP/Civil and Mr.P.Vignesh, AP/Civil Faculty coordinators along with faculty members, and around 65 participants were present in the Guest Lecture.

Finally the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.M.Jannathul Roshini, Third year student and our one day Guest Lecture was successfully concluded. The session was very informative and knowledgeable.
