The Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC-PEC), in association with the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Chapter of Paavai Engineering College organized a guest lecture on “Emerging Trends in Fluid Power Automation for Smart Manufacturing” on 23.02.2026. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. G. Nishanthini, III Year B.E. Mechatronics Engineering.
The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Ravichandran, Associate Professor, Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, was formally introduced by Mr. A. Logeshkumar, III Year B.E. Mechatronics Engineering. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. D. R. P. Rajarathnam, Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, who emphasized the importance of fluid power automation in the era of smart and intelligent manufacturing systems.
Dr. P. Ravichandran, an expert in hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial automation, delivered an insightful and technically enriching session. He elaborated on the fundamentals of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and highlighted their vital role in modern industrial automation. The speaker also discussed the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), smart sensors, real-time monitoring, and predictive maintenance in fluid power systems, enabling enhanced efficiency, reliability, and productivity in smart manufacturing environments.
The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students of Mechatronics Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The session concluded with an engaging interactive discussion, where students clarified their queries and gained deeper insights into emerging automation technologies. The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. M. G. Dhanishkar, III Year B.E. Mechatronics Engineering.
