Research

At Paavai College of Pharmacy and Research, we strongly believe that research is the backbone of innovation and progress in the pharmaceutical sciences. Our institution is committed to creating a vibrant research environment that fosters scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and the development of innovative healthcare solutions.

Research at our college is focused on addressing real-world challenges in areas such as drug discovery, herbal drug development, pharmaceutical analysis, novel drug delivery systems, and biotechnology. We actively encourage both faculty and students to engage in interdisciplinary research that contributes to improving patient care and public health.

The impact of our research is reflected through scientific publications in reputed journals, conference presentations, patents, and community-based health initiatives. Special emphasis is given to the development of herbal and traditional medicines, aligning with the growing global interest in natural therapeutics.

Research Infrastructure

Formulation development

Our institution emphasizes a strong foundation in pharmaceutics and industrial pharmacy, where students gain hands-on experience in the design and development of various dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, liquid formulations, semisolids, and novel drug delivery systems. Through well-equipped laboratories and modern instrumentation, learners are trained to understand the principles of preformulation studies, compatibility testing, optimization techniques, and stability studies.

Herbal drug development

Students and faculty are actively engaged in the development of herbal formulations including shampoos, ointments, gels, and oral dosage forms, with special emphasis on anti-dandruff, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities. Research activities also focus on phytochemical screening, bioactive compound isolation, and pharmacological evaluation to ensure scientific credibility. Our well-equipped laboratories and interdisciplinary approach enable researchers to explore innovative areas such as polyherbal formulations, nano-herbal drug delivery systems, and green synthesis techniques. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to the global acceptance of herbal medicine by ensuring quality, safety, and efficacy, while preserving the rich heritage of traditional medicinal knowledge.

Clinical Research

Department of Pharmacy Practice is involved in the practice based research area by establishing various clinical services in the Paavai hospital. Drug information, adverse drug reaction and medication errors and clinical toxicology were the areas of research during initial years. The department has expanded the scope of research from clinical to industrial areas like pharmacovigilance, clinical trials and regulatory affairs.
