The ‘Aims’ of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet it in the current socio–economic scenario of the country. The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool o organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. Needless to say, the NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces.

About Us

Paavai Engineering College is dedicated to social and national responsibilities, launching an NCC Signal Coy for boys and girls in the army wing from 2025-2026. We believe that participation in NCC activities, such as firing camps, drills, personality development, and voluntary services, helps shape well-rounded individuals. Our NCC wing aims to raise awareness of its importance in nation-building and provides cadets with job opportunities in government and public sectors. We also train students for the Republic Day parade and student exchange programs, enhancing their overall personality and mental resilience to tackle life’s challenges.

The session by C.S.T. Swamy was truly inspiring and gave everyone a clear and heartfelt understanding of what the Armed Forces stand for. He spoke passionately about the different sectors and roles in the Indian Army, especially emphasizing the career opportunities available for engineers in both technical and administrative fields. His talk provided students with useful insights into the career pathways, eligibility, salary, and allowances in the Armed Forces. His words on discipline, courage, and service to the nation deeply touched and motivated everyone. By sharing his real-life experiences and brave moments, he brought the spirit of the Army to life and kept the audience fully engaged. Students truly appreciated his friendly nature and patient answers to their questions. Overall, it was a powerful and inspiring session that encouraged many Paavai Engineering College students to dream of serving the nation with pride as part of the Indian Army on 24th October 2025.

The caretaker conference, conducted by Colonel Sooraj Nair on December 27, 2025, was held at the Police Firing Range in Yercaud, Salem. The conference focused on the upcoming NCC training schedule for cadets, providing a comprehensive overview of the planned activities and training modules. Colonel Nair highlighted the importance of a well-structured training regimen to enhance the cadets’ skills and discipline. There were also detailed discussions on the effective organization of the NCC unit, including strategies to improve coordination, leadership development, and overall unit efficiency. The session further covered best practices for managing resources and ensuring the safety and preparedness of all participants during training exercise

Electronics Club

Electronics club of Paavai Engineering College is specifically started for students with an interest in Electronics and Communication field. The main aim of the club is to provide a strong emphasis on the quest for fun in learning and designing innovative as well as practical Electronics, and also to help students understand the seemingly incomprehensible electronic gadgets in the world today. Objectives

The English Club of Paavai strives to bring out the latent talent of the students by way of organizing and conducting various activities and competitions like Quiz, Presentation, Oratorical Contest, Essay Writing Contest, etc., with an aim of making the students taste the flavour of English language.

A galaxy of senior teachers and experienced retired professors in the English department of Paavai have been assigned the responsibility of creating a right kind of climate and to improve the spoken English of the students and to accomplish the desired results.

‘Seminar on Global Avenues in Higher Education’
The English Club  in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Paavai Engineering College organized a one-day seminar titled ‘Global Avenues in Higher Education’ on 22nd August 2025 at Kalam’s Chamber, with the primary objective of creating awareness among students about the various opportunities and pathways available for pursuing higher studies abroad. The seminar was designed to provide in-depth knowledge and practical insights into the processes involved in international education, such as selecting the right university, applying for scholarships, availing educational loans, and navigating visa procedures.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 175 students from multiple departments across the institution, all of whom expressed a keen interest in exploring global academic opportunities. The session commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. D. Kirthika, a Final Year student from the Department of IoT, who set the tone for the day by highlighting the significance of such initiatives in broadening students’ academic horizons. The Presidential Address was given by Dr. K. Sundaramurthy, Head of IQAC, who emphasized the importance of global exposure in today’s competitive world and encouraged students to aim beyond borders. He stressed the need for students to not only aspire for international education but also prepare themselves holistically for the academic, cultural, and professional challenges that come with it.
The seminar’s Keynote Address was delivered by the guest speaker, Ms. Kuyil Mozhi Arulmozhi, Student Counsellor from Ramyam Overseas Education and Visa Service Pvt. Ltd. In her insightful address, she elaborated on the wide range of opportunities available for Indian students in foreign universities across countries like the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, and others. She provided a detailed overview of how to identify and shortlist universities based on one’s academic background, career goals, and financial capability. Furthermore, she highlighted the various scholarship schemes, funding options, and the importance of language proficiency tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, and PTE, offering students practical tips on how to prepare for them effectively. Her session was highly interactive, and she addressed several questions posed by students, making it both informative and engaging.
The event was convened by Dr. R. Shanthi, Professor and Head, Department of English, and Dr. K. Sundaramurthy, Head – IQAC, who provided strategic support and guidance throughout the planning and execution of the seminar. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. A. Gayathri, Mr. S. Priyathilak, and Mr. R. S. Singaravel, Assistant Professors from the Department of English, who ensured the smooth conduct of the event and actively facilitated student participation.
The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Neaha Shree M J, Final Year IoT student she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the guest speaker, the college management, the convenors, coordinators, and all the participants for contributing to the success of the event. She also acknowledged the value such seminars bring to students’ lives by helping them make informed decisions about their future education and career prospects. Overall, the seminar served as a valuable platform for students to gain clarity and motivation regarding higher education abroad, empowering them with the necessary tools and resources to take the next steps toward their global academic journey.
Seminar on Awareness of APTIS ESOL

Paavai Engineering College has consistently demonstrated its commitment to enhance English language education for both the faculty and students, with a vision to uplift the overall learning environment. In recognition of its unwavering dedication and excellence in English language teaching, the British Council has officially designated Paavai Engineering College as a certified Aptis ESOL Exam Centre. This prestigious recognition was marked by the presentation of credentials, Mr. Duncan Wilson, Managing Director, BC Education India, for the trained facilitators of the college. Aptis ESOL, a globally recognized English language qualification, has been developed by the British Council’s expert team in language assessment. It is governed by Ofqual, the official regulatory body of England, and measuring English proficiency across all four key language skills; speaking, listening, reading, and writing as well as grammar and vocabulary. Aptis ESOL is an innovative and global English assessment tool of the British Council which is an accurate, reliable, and flexible method of testing English Language Proficiency. The assessment is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), covering the levels from A1 to C2, ensuring standardization with global benchmarks.

The Department of English at Paavai Engineering College is spearheading the Aptis ESOL initiative. The faculty members have earned the necessary credentials to serve as efficient Aptis ESOL trainers through the Teacher Support Programmes. Since 2010, the department has guided over 2,000 students and teachers to acquire BEC Preliminary and Vantage certifications, demonstrating a consistent commitment to language development. Starting from the academic year 2024-2025, Paavai is now expanding its language training initiatives by offering Aptis ESOL course to the students, in addition to serving as an official test centre for APTIS Exams. Moreover, Aptis ESOL, Paavai offers comprehensive training courses for internationally recognized English proficiency exams such as IELTS, PTE and TOEIC Exams. These programmes are designed to equip the students and the professionals with the necessary language skills for higher education, employment, and immigration across the world. As an initiation, a seminar was conducted for the interested first students by Mr.E. John Vincent, Sr. Manager, British Council.

English Club Activity
Word Building

Department of English Paavai Engineering College conducted English a Club Activity in titled ‘Word Building’ on 08.10.25 at Drawing Hall. The Main objective of this activity was to enrich student’s vocabulary, improve their speaking skills and encourage creative thinking. The competition consisted of multiple fun rounds, including forming new words from given root words and team based challenges. Students from various departments enthusiastically participated, showcasing their linguistic skills and team spirit.        

The students actively participated in the competition. It offered a blend of inspiration and guidance. The webinar proved to be a valuable resource for those aspiring to translate their travel experiences into compelling narratives. Mr. M.E. Hariharan, Dr.M.Tamilselvi and Ms.S.R Thamarai Selvi Assistant Professors of English Department, coordinated the Club Activity. Nearly students 100 participated in the Club Activity.
English Club Activity
Spell Bee

Department of English of Paavai Engineering College conducted a Club Activity in titled ‘Spell Bee’ on 28.11.2025 at Drawing Hall. The Main objective of enhancing students’ spelling skills, vocabulary knowledge and confidence in the English language. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across different classes. Participants displayed excellent language skills, quick thinking and competitive spirit throughout the event

Dr.S.R.Kannan, who presided over the event, carefully evaluated the performance of the participants. The final round was highly engaging, with the top finalists’ competing closely. After an exciting contest, A.Nanditha B.Tech Agriculture Engineering secured the First Place, followed by G.K.Vyshnavapriya B.E CSE –‘E’ got Second Place and P.Rohith Pandi AIML ‘A’ got third Place. The Spell Bee Competition was a great success, helping students broaden their vocabulary and develop interest in the English language. Dr,M.Tamilselvi, Mr. M.E. Hariharan, and Ms.S.R Thamarai Selvi Assistant Professors of English Department, coordinated the Club Activity. Nearly students 100 participated in the Club Activity.

Story Writing
The Department of English, Paavai Engineering College conducted a story writing competition on 27.10.2025 at Room 409 drawing hall, with the aim of enhancing students’ writing skills and encouraging creative expression. The event brought together enthusiastic participants from various departments of first years who showcased their talent in written communication. The students actively participated in the competition. It offered a blend of inspiration and practical guidance. Students were given a time limit of an hour to compose an original and well-structured essay. The criteria for judgment included clarity of thought, originality, coherence, language proficiency, creativity, and relevance to the topic. The event was coordinated by the faculty members of the English Department, M.E. Hariharan, Dr .M Tamil Selvi and S.R Thamarai Selvi Assistant Professors who guided the participants and ensured the smooth conduct of the competition. Nearly 60 students participated in the competition. The club incharge evaluated the essays with care and appreciated the students’ ability to express ideas effectively.

NSS Club

About

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It was launched in 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. The scheme aims to develop the personality and character of students through community service. NSS volunteers participate in various social service activities such as organizing blood donation camps, spreading health and environmental awareness, planting trees, creating social awareness and extending help to orphanages and visually challenged people.

Objective

The overall objective of the National Service Scheme is educational, service to the community is the activity through which this objective is sought to be attained. “Personality Development through Social Service”

Motto

“NOT ME BUT YOU”, reflects the value of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service.

NSS Symbol

The NSS symbol is a wheel from India’s Konark Sun Temple, featuring 8 bars representing 24 hours of service, with red symbolizing energetic youth and navy blue signifying the vast cosmos and mankind’s welfare, promoting continuous social transformation and selfless service for the nation.

YRC

Youth Red Cross

YRC stands for Youth Red Cross, a group movement for students affiliated with the Indian Red Cross Society. It aims to encourage community service and humanitarian activities among youth. YRC volunteers engage in various activities like first aid, disaster management, health awareness, and blood donation. 

Objectives

The primary objectives of the Youth Red Cross (YRC) are to promote health and safety, foster service and civic responsibility and develop national and international understanding and friendship among youth.

Talent Quest for India (TQI) of Paavai Engineering College is a team of enthusiastic youth volunteers with a vision of creating socially responsible leaders in every community. Paavai Youth Counseling Forum

The Youth Counselling Forum at Paavai Engineering College is a dedicated platform committed to supporting the mental, emotional, and social well-being of students.
